Receptivity of the patient is very important in energy-based holistic healing modalities.

In this article we will take an overview of what energy based healing is, why receptivity of the patient is important and how we can increase their receptivity so that energy healing can be more effective and give faster results.

What is Energy Healing?

Energy healing are a series of complementary, holistic healing approaches to well-being which are based on the premise that there is universal life force (vital life energy called “prana” in Sanskrit or “chi” in Chinese). Physical as well as psychological ailments can be healed using these approaches. One such approach is Pranic Healing, founded by Master Choa Kok Sui. It is a no-touch, no medicine, non-invasive therapy with no side-effects.

During the therapy, life energy (prana) is channeled into the energy body of a receptive patient to cleanse the energy centers, re-align them and unclog the energy meridians, The process gradually reverses the condition and after sometime the health and well-being of the person gets restored.

The healing is holistic, conducted at multiple levels: psychological, emotional and etheric. In the process of healing the patient also gets spiritually elevated, as he/she starts becoming of a vast energy field beyond the limited physical body.

What is the importance of “receptivity” in healing?

Receptivity of the patient is his/her openness to the idea of healing with energy and willingness or readiness to receive the healing energy.

The patient’s mind is like a “membrane of consciousness” that has to be penetrated by the healer in order to let the projected energy reach the chakras/meridians where it is needed. If that membrane of consciousness is not conducive to this form energy, than it will act like a strong, hard  barrier through which the energy will not pass through easily, in spite of all efforts by the healer.

Often the root cause of a chronic ailment is a toxic thought pattern or an unwholesome emotion. If we do not eliminate the root cause, and the patient keeps on churning these type of thoughts and emotions, the ailment can never be completely healed. That is another reason why cooperation from the patient is necessary.

Being receptive is also important as it enables establishing a proper feedback mechanism during the healing process. If the patient is not willing to get healed, then he/she will also resist giving a regular, accurate feedback to the healer.

An example of this would be the case where the patient is being healed for hypertension, but is not willing to get the blood pressure reading regularly. How will the healer then modulate the energies in the interest of the patient?

Why would someone not be receptive?

The primary reason for a person to be non-receptive is due to lack of faith in energy-based healing modalities. We are often not consciously aware of the possibility of an energy field which cannot be perceived through sight, sound, touch, smell or taste. And the premise that it is possible to get holistically healed using this energy field as the foundation is difficult to accept initially. The patient may not believe in the healing potential of abstract, invisible energy field.

A person who is not open to energy-based healing may avoid quoting certain reasons like time and financial constraints:

  1. Time constraint: The patient is very busy and stressed in his/her daily routine and feels that it is would be an add-on burden to spare time for the healing and associated activities. For example for holistic healing, mindfulness practices and breathing exercises are often suggested. But the patient may find it too hard to do these in his/her daily routine.
  2. Money constraint: In any energy healing process, as the healer channels life energy into the patients energy body, the energy loop gets completed when there is equal and fair energy exchange on both sides. Since money is energy, healing services are paid, as a rule. The patient may not be able to afford the cost of the healing sessions. Or maybe he/she has other financial priorities.
  3. Unwillingness to get healed: At some level the patient may not want to get healed. The ailment may be enabling him/her to get due attention and there is a fear that if he/she gets well, no one will give importance to him/her.
  4. Lack of Karmic entitlement: Very often, serious ailments have a karmic origin, and healing happens only when the patients is entitled to get well.

How to increase receptivity

All the suggestions given subsequently are mainly to increase the patient’s faith in energy-based holistic healing techniques. If there is faith, then there will be receptivity.

Someone requesting for energy healing is the biggest proof of their receptivity.

At times, when the patient is not in a state of requesting for healing, his/her next of kin (spouse, sibling, son/daughter) can request for healing. This happens in cases like: patient is a child or very old, the patient is in ICU, unconscious, or mentally challenged, etc

Assuming that the patient is well aware of the energy healing being applied and is willing to cooperate, his/her receptivity can be further increased in the following ways:

  1. Regularly doing the suggested purification and aura cleansing practices.
  2. Seeking regular feedback and keeping the patient engaged during the healing process.
  3. Sharing information so that he/she can understand the concept of energy body and the healing process.
  4. Connecting them with other people who have been successfully healed through  these techniques. Sharing relevant testimonials would also help.
  5. Guide him/her to meditation practices which will not only regulate the emotions but also help is elevating the consciousness thereby increasing their intuitive faculties and becoming more aware of the energy world. Meditation also helps in enhancing the downpour of divine energies into the patient’s chakras, thereby speeding up the healing process.
  6. Share prayers ( for gratitude to higher powers, higher beings) which the patient can recite before, during and after healing sessions.
  7. Healing may be done when the person is asleep. This is very effective, because the mental body (consciousness) that resists the healing energy is quiet during the sleep.
  8. Asking the patient to sit with palms open and in a receptive position, as though he/she is receiving something from the universe.
  9. Ensure that the energy exchange loop is completed. Payments for healing services enhances the receptivity and entitlement of the patient.
  10. Tithing to organizations and people with similar problems also helps increasing the karmic entitlement towards healing.

Conclusion

As a healer, when we start practicing, we realize that there certain practical aspects that are as important as the energy and skills of the healer. This article is based on my experience in dealing with various clients and patients and all the strategies I regularly use in increasing their receptivity.
